Red Cross Muntok Appeal

Red Cross Muntok Appeal

The town of Muntok on Bangka Island, where the Australian nurses landed after the sinking of the Vyner Brooke, has no ambulance and has been hit hard by coronavirus. It is about 3 hours from the nearest hospital.  Muntok has a museum about WW11 and a memorial to the nurses who were massacred on Radji Beach. The townspeople are very kind and hospitable to visitors who want to connect with this history.

There is a Red Cross Appeal to raise funds to support the health service needs of the people of Muntok.
